Alison's Journey Continued: Triumphs in Physiotherapy Recovery
In October 2011 I had a left partial knee replacement. Unfortunately the surgery had several complications where the artery at the back of my knee was damaged. This lead to me requiring further emergency surgery, compartment syndrome and later a skin graft. In January my consultant said I was ready for rehab and my GP recommended Denise at Kesson Physio. At my first appointment I was still experiencing a lot of pain and had not walked on the left leg since the surgery. I was very reluctant for my knee to be looked at let alone being touched! Denise explained the importance of starting to touch the knee and the left leg and expose it to normal movements. With much coaxing (and some tough love) I started a rehab programme with a view to get me back walking again and return to work - a very active job! A combination of Denise's professional skills and my determination has meant I achieved my goals. Fast forward to 2019 and my progress has been huge. I am able to walk and regularly achieve my 10,000 steps a day. Recently I have even started an occasional jog! I am so grateful to Kesson, without Denise I believe I wouldn’t be able to walk. She brought the encouragement and I brought the determination.
