My treatment started following a back injury. It was so bad that at one point surgery looked to be the only option. Somehow with help and support from physio, I managed to turn a corner in the healing process without the need of an operation and began to return to my normal activities.I’m not what you call a sporty person but I like to keep active and I do love to ski. However, having fallen badly five years after my back injury, I suffered a recurrence and had to begin again to overcome the pain. This time, to make matters worse, my physical problems were compounded by a series of traumatic life events. Anyone who has or is experiencing something similar will know how such difficulties not only leave you feeling very low but also impact significantly on your physical health. There were times when recovery seemed to be an uphill struggle. I don’t exaggerate when I say this state of affairs lasted for years and I began to think that age was playing a part. It takes time to recover but little by little things have improved. Now, in addition to my regular physio sessions, I attend exercise and Pilates classes. Best of all, I’m skiing now better than I have for years and it’s such a pleasure.
