Debra
At the beginning of November I received the diagnosis of Osteoarthritis of the left hip and was asked to consider a total left hip replacement which was carried out at the beginning of February.I had been experiencing some discomfort which over a two year period had worsened to the point that by the time I saw the consultant I was walking with a stick and unable to carry out everyday activities without a considerable amount of pain.In September I stopped working due to the pain I was experiencing. Before the diagnosis I had been attending physiotherapy and following this started to attend the Lower Limb fitness class.Following the diagnosis, and both pre and post operatively, I have spent time building up the muscles in and around the area around my left hip.Attending the Lower Limb Group has helped me enormously, making me feel more prepared for the operation and aiding my recovery immediately after the operation. It has also given me the confidence to progress from using crutches to using a stick. As I become stronger I am able to walk longer distances, climb up and down stairs one foot after another, I have returned to yoga classes albeit in a modified way at present, I am able to get in and out of a car with greater ease and I am pain free!Thank you Kesson Physio for giving me back my independence.
